Heaven and Earth Taoist Yoga weekend retreat, 1-3 October 2010
The Taoist Yoga, Heaven and Earth, Health and Meditation
System of Ancient China
This retreat will give you the opportunity to explore the ancient practice of Taoist Yoga, also known as Chi Kung. Taoist Yoga has a long and deep tradition traceable to an era of pre-Confucian China. At the core of the practice is the quiet philosophy of Tao. Inspiration is taken from Nature and Season to work into the body’s ‘inner pattern’ through a series of repeated postures – some moving, some still. It is simple to approach, yet an extremely profound practice.
The weekend will be led by Tim Spratt, an experienced teacher who has
been teaching Tai Chi and related Taoist energy arts, since 1993. He will lead a series of progressive
sessions that will take you through a complete form of traditional
Taoist Yoga exercises, interspersed with periods of rest and
reflection. Time will be given to thoroughly understanding the
postures and to ask questions. There will be demonstrations of
complementary Chinese exercise sets, as well as one-to-one study
sessions. Indoor and outdoor practice will be undertaken. Standing and
seated meditation will form an integral part of the retreat.
In refreshing the flow of Chi we may recover balance in mind and body;
an uncommon vitality; a falling off of quotidian stress. It is a way
toward awareness and self-transformation
The retreat is suitable for all, although since there is a fair amount
of physical practice to be undertaken, a general level of fitness is
necessary.
