Weekend Meditation Retreat, 5-7 March 2010

This weekend is a perfect introduction into the ancient practice of meditation. Meditation, in its many forms, has been used for thousands of years by people in all cultures.  It helps to still the mind and bring about feelings of inner peace and connectedness. It can both be understood and practiced as a means to finding spiritual liberation and as the ultimate and original stress reduction technique.

In our modern and hectic times, meditation is particularly important to balance out the stresses and tensions that build up in our bodies and minds because of our fast-paced lifestyle. It is a practical and empowering tool that you can apply for yourself anywhere anytime.

Countless scientific studies have proved the many benefits of meditation including:

  • Reduced levels of stress, anxiety and depression
  • Improved immune system and physical well being
  • Increased concentration, memory and clarity of mind
  • Improved emotional stability
  • Better sleep
  • Recent studies have even shown an increased brain size in long term meditators
If you are interested in learning how to cope better with the fast pace and stresses of life, this weekend will be an invaluable experience. It will serve both as a deeply restful and relaxing personal retreat and as an introduction into a practice that may well stay with you for the rest of your life.

You will learn about, and practice, a number of different meditation techniques. (None of the practices you will learn are difficult or require any previous experience.) There will be periods of sitting and moving meditation, and talks/ discussions. We will also have periods of rest and guided relaxation.
